Azadi Ke Rang – Independence Day Celebrations 2026

P.K.M. College of Education, in association with the IQAC, NSS Unit 87, and the Department of Social Science, celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day on 15 August 2026 at the College Auditorium with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. The celebration commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony at 9:00 a.m., led by Dr. Veena Appukuttan, Head of the Department of Social Science and IQAC Coordinator. This was followed by the formal function. Dr. Sinoj Joseph, Assistant Professor of Physical Education and NSS Programme Coordinator, delivered the welcome address, while Dr. Veena Appukuttan presided over the programme. Rev. Dr. M. J. Mani, former Principal of Nirmalagiri College, Kuthuparamba, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his inspiring address, Rev. Dr. M. J. Mani highlighted the significance of Independence Day and shared thoughtful reflections on the values of freedom, responsibility, and patriotism, encouraging students to become responsible citizens who contribute meaningfully to the nation. Devika K., Student Representative, and Dr. Sr. Gracelin K. Joseph, Staff Representative, offered felicitations. The programme also witnessed the digital release of the revised college newsletter, ‘HALLO’, by Rev. Dr. M. J. Mani. The celebration was further enriched by a variety of cultural programmes, including patriotic songs, a flash mob, and a tableau depicting the spirit of India’s freedom struggle. Prizes were also distributed to the winners of various competitions conducted as part of the Independence Week celebrations. Student Coordinator Rons Savy delivered vote of thanks.. The programme brought together students, teachers, and staff in a spirit of patriotism, unity, and collective participation, making the Independence Day celebration a meaningful and memorable occasion at P.K.M. College of Education.
